Traditional software waits to be told. Nikolai does not wait. An externalized prefrontal cortex and a digital hippocampus — a persistent, local-first cognitive extension designed to absorb the overhead between intention and execution for minds that move faster than legacy software allows.

It runs today, privately, on my own machine, built specifically around my own ADHD. Bi-temporal memory (valid vs. ingested), zero-cloud by design — your graph, your keys, your device.
Dopamine-aware execution
ADHD paralysis is not laziness but discounting: a distant reward collapses in subjective value until the task feels unreachable. Nikolai models that curve and recursively shrinks delay until the next step clears the activation threshold — turning a monolith into 5-minute micro-deliverables that trigger real dopamine. Not by nagging. By lowering the cost of starting.
